New medical clinic
A new medical clinic, Physician Quality Care, will be located at 2075 Pleasant Plains Extended. My guess is this is close to the corner of Country Club and Pleasant Plains on the east side of Pleasant Plains. I believe a Union Planters branch will be on the west side, closer to Quiznos.
Jackson is getting a Wingate Inn
A new Wingate Inn will be located at 24 International Cove. I think International Cove was formerly known as Howard Johnson Cove at the northeast corner of Christmasville and I-40.
Park Place
I have all the respect in the world for Gary Taylor. What is going on at the corner of F.E. Wright and I-40 is tremendous and will be a huge impact on the future of Jackson. Gary, for many years, has had a knack for turning a profit from a pile of dirt. Certainly this is a simplification for a multi-year project and Gary's many years of making contacts in the world of development.

So...the rumor is that we are getting a Kroger at this location. I see on the plan a spot for a theater. I hope it's not another Ajay. We need a quality theater, not one that is a dump, has outside ticket purchasing, no web ticket purchasing option, etc.
In the first completed building is a Sparky's (from Lexington) and a Los Portales, or so I've heard.
Gary's site has a town center on the Sandstone Village site on the northeast corner of the I-40 and Christmasville Road. This town center would directly compete with the other town center located at the southeast corner of Campbell and I-40. Interesting...
I did not see this coming - Robinson Toyota moving to Park Place
I knew that Robinson Toyota was considering moving. It was reported in the Jackson Sun that they made an offer on the school system's building at the corner of Parkway and the Bypass. Today, in the Jackson Sun's legal ads, Robinson Toyota is seeking rezoning of the property at the southwest corner of F.E. Wright Drive and Ridgecrest Extended. Holy Cow! This solidifies what is going on at Park Place. Robinson is certainly an anchor at this location.

Could it be possible that firefighters did not render aid?
I saw this story in the Jackson Sun and was stunned:
Firefighter response questioned in fatal wreck

City and county officials are reviewing the response of Jackson firefighters to a fiery accident that happened outside city limits and killed a former Jackson Christian School football star.
Nick Melton, 18, died early June 3 after his truck went off Ashport Road, crashed into a tree and caught fire. According to statements in a Madison County Sheriff’s Department report, Jackson firefighters were the first firefighters to arrive at the crash, but did not get out of their truck to help emergency workers and witnesses, who could not get in the truck because of the heat.
Witnesses and deputies complained in the report that the firefighters sat in the truck despite motions for them to help douse the flames. “The complaint from EMS was that allegedly that the Jackson Fire Department was on the scene or near the scene because the vehicle crash was outside city limits,” Sheriff David Woolfork said Tuesday morning. “At this point I can’t confirm whether or not that occurred.”The department investigated after emergency workers complained that firefighters were advised not to help with the fire, the report says.Mike Morgan, the interim Jackson fire chief, said firefighters were initially told the accident was at Thelma Barker Elementary School, and did not see the fire until they noticed that foliage around the crash was aflame. The firefighters reported to their dispatcher that county firefighters were already at the wreck when they arrived.Morgan said he hoped to finish a report on the matter today.“Whether they acted or not because they were in the county has no play here,” Morgan said. “There was some confusion for about one or one and a half minutes there that before he got out of the truck and saw the county fire truck actually extinguishing.”He said he did not know whether any disciplinary action would be taken. The firefighters and the dispatcher involved are still on duty, Morgan said.“It’s a possibility, but it’s still an ongoing study of what’s going on in this one- to two-minute time frame,” Morgan said.Woolfork would not comment on whether a quicker response by firefighters could have saved Melton. When asked the same question, Morgan said, “I don’t know. New medical building slated for Jackson, Tenn., hospital campus
Why wasn't this reported in the Jackson Sun? I think a 100,000 square foot office building is pretty big news. More info here, as reported in the Memphis Business Journal by Andy Ashby:
Cogdell Spencer, Inc., and West Tennessee Healthcare are planning a new medical office building in Jackson, Tenn.
The five-story, 100,000-square-foot medical office building will be called the Medical Center Physicians Tower.
The project is in the planning phase and a final cost has not been determined yet, according to Cogdell Spencer spokesman Dana Crothers.
Charlotte, N.C.-based RPA Design is the project architect.
The new office building will be located on West Forest Avenue, right across the street from Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Plans for the new building include a multi-level parking garage and pedestrian walkway.
Cogdell Spencer, a real estate investment trust which specializes in medical office buildings, is developing the project, which will begin construction this summer.
